Introduction:

You, for whatever reasons you wish, have elected to join the ranks of COMET as one of their many, many Seekers. Having found one of their many roaming mammets, and acquiring a flyer with the requisite information in hand--you travel to the Far East, in the lands of Shirogane, to come into contact with these enigmatic researchers and collectors.

Plenty of rumors surround this organization--some call them criminals and thieves, while others clout their heroism and kindness. Whispers of their hand in charitable donations, as well as shady business deals have reached you before. The aims of some of these Seekers are as shrouded in mystery as their place of living. For some, they wish to further their fields of study. Others desire greater power. Still more desire to use their gathered knowledge to better not only themselves, but others.

COMET bends the knee to many a mysterious benefactor, from Ul'Dah'n merchant lords, Ishgardian Nobles, Thavnarian Alchemists, Black Market dealers, Poachers of the Black Shroud, Hingan brothel lords, Lominsan pirate fleets, Xaelic warlords, Confederate workforces, Dalmascan Rebel factions, and even high-ranking Garlean officers. So long as bloodshed is not wanton, and both power and knowledge falls into the proper hands...where it comes from, and how it was obtained are merely steps in a process. Patrons receive many a favor from COMET's large network, in exchange for payments of gil, resources, or donations in rare and unusual items--the details of said favors are...sketchy at best.

Regardless of where you hail from, or what your passions might be, COMET is a place for all peoples...even if their pasts are as shady as their expressions. After all, money can be spent. People can 'forget' things they saw or heard. Paperwork becomes 'lost'. Such is the way of the world.
And in pursuit of knowledge...paths all across the realm, and adventures of many shapes and sizes, await those with the drive.

Thanks to the way the Free Company's RP is designed, we can basically take any and all types of characters. We're the OG "If you sits, you fits" Research & Theft Free Company, and we're proud of it!
The Headquarters of COMET has all manner of facilities, and members are actively encouraged to make rooms that reflect them in any way they'd like!

Lore-Friendly Roleplaying
 

We do our best to ensure that lore isn't broken. Our general way of thinking is that "If it makes sense, it's fine!" Members do ask that things be within reason, however, so you won't be finding any Demigod Psychic Mermaid Time-Lords. Sorry.

COMET does have its own lore, but rarely (if ever) will it conflict or overshadow the MSQ of the game itself -- nobody in COMET is the main character, (though everybody gets a time to shine) and we're okay with that!

Cringeproofed for your protection

As a 18+ Free Company, COMET tends to play up more adult themes in our roleplaying. The use of alcohol, drugs, sex, violence, and various other uncomfortable things may feature in some way or another. However, the members of the Free Company try their damnedest to ensure it doesn't go beyond a certain point. If you can be subtle about things, it can largely pass, and nobody will complain about it.
Please note that while we don't care if you partake in certain aspects of the Roleplaying community, these things are NOT our main focus. If that is all you are interested in, please consider another Company.
We've got a fairly low tolerance for that kind of thing.
